Multichannel spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging for improved steel surface states monitoring and cost savings (MULTISAVE) : final report

The MULTISAVE project has been achieved in good agreement with the initial planning as defined in the technical annex. The realization of this project has allowed to design a new industrial system based on a new innovative multipoint spectroscopic analyzer able to monitor the online chemistry of surface states at critical processing points (annealing, degreasing, galvanisation) The actions that have been achieved during the three years of the project can be divided into four main objectives: - A sample basis, representative of the industrial problems, has been synthesized and characterized. The basis has been used during the entire project to test and to calibrate the developed analyzer and algorithms. - A multipoint analyzer has been developed for online monitoring of steel surface states along the process in harsh industrial annealing conditions. The sensor is based on innovative optical solutions (optical multiplexing and/or optical scanning) using infrared fiber and hyperspectral camera. - A specific data processing has been developed to answer the on-line conditions. - The analysis and control system combining the on-line data processing and the analyzer has been implemented under industrial conditions and on-line feasibility trials have been carried-out, demonstrating the sensitivity of the system to surface state variations.
