Paradigm shift in productivity of e-age banking: some evidence from the Indian banks
The present paper examines productivity and profitability in pre and post e-banking period and highlights the emerging issues and new strategies to enhance the performance of bank groups in liberalised, globalised and IT era. The paper concludes that there is a paradigm shift in performance of all bank groups in post e-banking period but new private sector banks and foreign banks have edge over public sector banks. The fully IT-oriented banks have become a threat and also a motivation for our public sector banks. The paper stress on customer-centric, proficient in managing assets, technology, skilled staff, transparency, human resource management policies, customer relationship management, merger and acquisition policies are vital factors to enhance the performance of banks to face the emerging global competition. Each and every bank should study or make research regarding motivating factors for higher work.
