Pay and display : Does a board's remuneration tell you how good it is?
Purpose – This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting‐edge research and case studies. Design/methodology/approach – This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context. Findings – What will board members of the future be paid? It is tempting to say “what they are worth”, but there are few people who either believe all board members are worth what they are paid, or more importantly what they are actually worth to the company. Given that these are the people that help drive companies forward, creating jobs and propelling economies as they do so, this is a pretty big question not to have an answer to. Practical implications – The paper provides strategic insights and practical thinking that have influenced some of the world's leading organizations. Originality/value – The briefing saves busy executives and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy‐to‐digest format.
