Policies on reception, return and integration for, and numbers of unaccompanied minors : an EU comparative study

This EMN Synthesis Report summarises the main findings of National Reports produced by twenty-two of the EMN National Contact Points (EMN NCPs) from austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, ireland, italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovak republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, principally covering the period up to mid-2009. In keeping with the EMN's objective, the purpose of this study was to fill a knowledge gap on policies on unaccompanied minors in the EU, ranging from an assessment of the identified motivation(s) and circumstance(s) for entering the EU, to entry procedures, reception arrangements, including integration measures, detention, return and identified best practices. In addition, the available statistics on unaccompanied minors were collated. On the accompanying cd-rom you will find the Synthesis Report and the National Reports produced by the European Migration Network (EMN) for the above-titled study. Twenty-two of the EMN National Contact Points participated in this study, producing their National Report, according to common specifications, which were then used to produce the Synthesis Report.
