Prediction of Pollution Accidents in Drinking Water Source Area and its Response Measures

Drinking water source area is a weak link in water resources management, but pollution accidents occur from time to time. Most of the prediction models currently developed are not suitable for drinking water source area, so a new model has been established. This model coupled the GIS Platform with the discrete water quality and hydrodynamic equations to form a water quality and hydrodynamic mathematical model. It used Tecplot360 to intuitively show the spatial-temporal change of pollutants in drinking water source area to grasp the degree of pollution in real time. This model had the advantages of less parameters, less calculation steps and faster calculation speed, and can be applied to many types of pollutants. In this study, the model was applied to the Huangjudu drinking water source area, and mercury, a typical heavy metal, was the object of study to carry out prediction. The spatial-temporal change of pollutant after pollution accident in different water periods were discussed, and emergency response measures for pollution accidents were explored. The results showed that the time required for the Huangjuedu drinking water source area to reach the standard during flood period, water storage period, falling period and drought period was 82 min, 87 min, 92 min and 93 min. Through the flow dispatching of Xiangjiaba reservoir, the time of pollutant exceedance was reduced by 10 min, 10 min, 9 min and 8 min respectively.
