Publication Records of Newly Tenured Business Administration Professors – Do They Differ Over Time and Across Disciplines?

To obtain a tenured professorship, nontenured postdoctoral researchers have to build strong publication records. This study documents differences across disciplines (e.g., Accounting vs. Finance) regarding the publication records of 911 business administration professors in Germany at the time in their careers when they received their first tenured professorships. In addition, in analyzing the publication records of newly tenured professors over the last three decades, this paper finds that publication records have been steadily increasing from the early 1990s until today. Finally, the study documents that the publication records of newly tenured business administration professors change at different rates across the disciplines of business administration
