Reproduction of The Population and Utilization of Labor Resources
The Twenty-fifth Congress of the CPSU noted: "Soviet scientists must not lose sight of environmental and population problems that have become increasingly acute of late. The improvement of socialist natural resource utilization and the elaboration of an effective demographic policy are an important task for the entire complex of natural and social sciences." This task becomes especially important in connection with the fact that the contemporary demographic situation is characterized by a diminishing birthrate (the more and more clearly manifested orientation of the majority of families toward one-or two-child families) (>u>1>/u>), an aging population (>u>2>/u>), and the intensification of migratory processes.
