Simplified Proofs for Planning Optimal Lead Times in Multi-Stage Production Structures

One of the major problems in production and distribution is the setting of realistically planned lead times in the presence of uncertainty. This paper presents a generalized model for setting planned lead times when particular jobs are observed and their lead-times are stochastic. Using dynamic programming, it confirms existing results and offers a simplified way to prove optimal policies for related problems.
