Simulation of a digitally controlled system, using the SIMUL language
The SIMUL simulation language is introduced and its application to the simulation of continuous-time systems controlled by digital computers is described. Then, one considers the control of the primary coolant temperature in a PWR nuclear power plant: Large disturbances induce unacceptable transient oscillations due to the actuator speed limits; it is shown that these oscillations can be damped or eliminated, using a correction algorithm with a single parameter, the value of which can be determined via simulation.
