Soziale Lage — Was sind die drängendsten Probleme?
Die Demokratie scheint in Gefahr. Populisten und Autokraten genießen wachsenden Zuspruch und bieten vermeintlich einfache Lösungen für soziale Probleme an. Was können die Sozialwissenschaften zur Analyse dieser Probleme beitragen? Welche Empfehlungen können sie geben? Sind die von der Öffentlichkeit als zentral empfundenen Probleme überhaupt faktisch die wesentlichen? Einige Wissenschaftler sehen eine Entscheidung über Prioritäten als normativ und damit außerhalb ihres Fachgebiets liegend an. Die Teilnehmer am Zeitgespräch können sich dennoch auf wesentliche Problembereiche einigen — die ungleiche Einkommens- und Vermögensverteilung und eine drohende Altersarmut.
