Spectral distribution of scattered light in polyatomic gases
The spectral distribution of light scattered by density fluctuations is calculated for a polyatomic gas. The usual hydrodynamic equations are supplemented with a relaxation equation for the dynamic pressure. As an application the spectra of light scattered from CH4 is determined.
