Stock Return Volatility in India: A Case Study of Pharmaceuticals and Computer Software in India
The measure of variability that is based on past prices that conforms to the present variability has been conceptualized as ⬠Svolatility⬠in financial market. Thus, volatility as a concept can be treated as synonymous with variability in general or variance in particular. In this paper an attempt has been made to examine the volatility at the level of specific industries or companies in an industry. For this study the stock price data has been taken from PROWESS. Computer Software and Drugs & Pharmaceuticals industry have been taken. From the analysis we found that Computer industry is highly volatile while the drugs is a stable one.
