Study on Dynamic Heat Transfer Characteristics and Energy Saving Potential of Wall Implanted with Heat Pipes in Heating Season

With the implementation of the "carbon peaking and carbon neutral" strategy, energy efficiency in buildings is becoming increasingly important, and heat transfer in the envelope as an important component of building energy consumption needs to be studied. Wall implanted with heat pipes (WIHP) is one of the latest research hotspots in this field. Firstly, the numerical heat transfer model is used to study the internal dynamic heat transfer characteristics of WIHP in this paper. The results show that WIHP exhibits two-dimensional unsteady and uneven heat transfer characteristics compared with conventional wall, and the average inside surface temperature is increased by 0.59 °C. Secondly, the thermal conversion efficiency is proposed to evaluate the utilization of solar energy by WIHP. The results show that the heat transfer of heat pipe increases with the increase of solar radiation intensity, but the thermal conversion efficiency decreases. Finally, the energy saving potential of WIHP heating season is studied, and it is concluded that WIHP can reduce the heat loss of wall by 56% on average. WIHP can significantly improve the heat transfer performance of enclosure structure and promote the wide application of solar energy in the building field
