The Application of Linear Programming Methods in Soviet Transportation
The successful fulfillment of the tasks of the Seven-Year Plan depends to no small degree upon the most rational utilization of labor, materials and productive capacities, and the production of the maximum quantity of useful products in the required assortment and at lowest costs. The development of optimum plans to satisfy these requirements may be facilitated in certain cases by the use of linear programming methods. Transportation is one of the fields in which their employment would be particularly useful.
