The contribution of the framework programmes to major innovations : final report

This study identifies the key elements explaining how some Major Innovations came about in Europe and in the world, and evaluates the specific contribution of the European Union Framework Programmes for Research, Technological developments and Demonstration Activities to their development. The results support policy evaluation and development as well as the understanding of areas for further improvement to enhance impacts. This study was conducted by an external contractor (Jiip - The Joint Institute for Innovation Policy) from December 2013 to March 2015. It is one of evidence gathering exercises undertaken for the overall ex post evaluation of the FP7 (2007-2013) and for the Interim Evaluation of H2020.
