The Determinants of Destination Choice : An Econometric Analysis of Intermetropolitan and International Migratory Flows in Canada

Using the Conditional logit model, this paper deals with the main determinants of migrations within 25 Canadian Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs), and the huge concentration of Immigrants in the three biggest CMAs. The outcomes are as follows: - three variables Population, Distance and Language provide the best explanation for migrations within the 25 CMAs; and - only variable Population explains better the huge concentration of Immigrants in the three biggest CMAs (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver)
