THE ESSENCE AND FACTORS OF DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSIT POTENTIAL OF RAILWAY TRANSPORT OF UKRAINE

Trends of railway transport of Ukraine, accompanied by the constant fall in transit traffic and worsening financial and economic situation of railways, drew attention to the factors in the development of transit potential of the railway industry. This paper investigates the essence of the concept of " transit potential " and highlights the author's perspective on understanding the nature of the transit potential of rail transport by which it is necessary to understand a set of tools, features and capabilities of objects and subjects rail to ensure the quality level organization of the transport and logistics maintenance of international transit of goods and passengers traveling through the country. Established that railway has huge transit potential, which today is not used in full. On this basis, for the purpose of suspending further decline in transportation of goods in transit the system of factors in the development of transit potential of the railways, the main of which are as follows: infrastructure, technology and innovation, political, administrative and economic.
