The future of the Charter and institutional arrangements for the protection of fundamental rights in the Member States
The study was requested as background information for the Task Force 'Convention' and has two objects: first, to take stock of the current legal status of the Charter and of problems related to the various options envisaged for giving it a more binding legal character. Secondly, the document comprises a comparison of how fundamental rights are protected at the institutional level and how their respect is ensured at the judicial level in the Member States.
