The role of money and interest rates in the theory of monetary policy: an attempt at perspective
Drawing on the work of influential monetary economists over the past centuries, the purpose of this paper is to present recent developments in the theory and practice of monetary policy, and assess the possibility that in the light of the recent financial crisis and Great Recession further developments highlighting the complex nature and role of banks and financial markets in modern economies will take place.
