The Usefulness of Business Intelligence to Support Organizational Agility in Developing Countries

Business Intelligence (BI)-enabled organizational agility becomes critical to respond to emerging opportunities from diverse changes occurring within the environment. Although BI-enabled organizational agility is a well-researched area in developed countries, there has been little prior research in developing countries. Businesses in developing countries stay blind concerning data-based decision-making and optimization of diverse opportunities in the business. The aim of this research is to explore the influence of BI on organizational agility in achieving competitive advantages in developing countries. To be guided by interpretative analysis, the influence of BI on organizational agility was investigated using open-ended interviews in five case studies in Bangladesh, and data were inductively analyzed. The research findings report that the BI influence of case studies 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 is positively associated with organizational agility at weaker, weaker, fair, stronger, and stronger levels, respectively.
