Thermal Performance Evaluation of a Novel Directional Heat Radiation Device Based on Monte Carlo Ray Tracing Method

To effectively improve the indoor local thermal environment, a novel directional heat radiation (DHR) device was designed. In the present paper, the thermal radiation effect of the directional setting DHR device was verified through experiments, and the heat transfer process of the DHR device was elaborated through the thermal network method. The experiment results showed that the black globe temperature difference between directional setting and forward setting at distance 400 mm of level downward 520 mm × 520 mm DHR device was 0.4 oC, and about twice as much as the level upward arrangement. The simulation results showed that the globe mean radiant temperature θgmr increased with increases of the tube diameter and reflecting cover opening width, and decreased with increases of the tube spacing. The black globe mean radiation temperature of the directional setting DHR device at 0.1 m, 0.6 m, 1.1 m, and 1.7 m heights were 16.65 oC, 16.86 oC, 17.15 oC, and 17.66 oC respectively, and higher than that without reflecting cover 0.38 oC, 0.48 oC, 0.62 oC, and 0.8 oC. And the heat flux per unit floor area of the directional setting DHR device was about 56 W/m2 , and 20% less than that without reflecting cover
