To Foster Creativity and Success, Remove Intentional and Unintentional Discrimination

This paper examines the benefits of diversity to the organization – such as innovation, growth, and creativity – as well as the challenges to diversity, including both the obvious, well-known forms of discrimination and the more subtle forms. The subtle forms of discrimination include not hiring people who are unattractive, overweight, short, have speech impediments, have strange names, and/or wear different kinds of clothing. The authors conclude that it is crucial to strive for a diverse workforce and work on eliminating both intentional and unintentional bias. Any country or organization that wants to prosper in today’s Knowledge/Creative Economy must train its people to welcome those who are different. In addition, it is important to level the playing field at birth so that rich and poor have the same opportunities
