Total Quality Management of Public Elementary School Principals in Relation to School Performance
This study assessed the TQM of public elementary school principals in relation to school performance in terms of quality instruction, staffing, facilities, and operations funding. The results showed that the school principals' TQM practices, except operational funding, had the lowest average mean rating in all areas. In addition, all calculated values were lower than the corresponding table values at 0.05 level of significance. This further revealed that "there is no significant difference between the teachers' and principals' assessments of TQM practices of the four variables mentioned. The data also showed that two schools had the lowest dropout rate of 3%, and 12 schools had the highest dropout rate of 12%. Four schools had the highest retention rate of 66%, and the other had the lowest retention rate of 10%. Finally, the completion rate was 98%. As a result, the principal's TQM was not significantly associated with enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, and the null hypothesis was accepted. The descriptive correlation research design and survey method was used in this study. This method was deemed the most appropriate in fully describing the data obtained. According to Calderon (2006), descriptive research involves collecting, analyzing, classifying, and aggregating data on general situations, actions, beliefs, processes, trends, and causality and correctly interpreting such data. It focuses on what is present, such as real situations, practices, scenarios, or any event involving variables. Purposive sampling was used to choose respondents for this investigation. According to Barreiro and Albandoz (2001), purposive sampling is a sampling approach in which the individual picked for a sample is chosen based on the researcher's aims. Data were collected from respondents via questionnaires supplemented with unstructured interviews. The questionnaire was validated to obtain reliable data. Hence, the statistical tools used were frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, Pearson's correlation coefficient (r), and t-test
