Towards a Different Kind of Globalization, or How the Anti-Globalists View the World

Not everyone is in agreement that globalisation brings benefits, and that is why considering the anti-globalist point of view is important. The anti-globalists want democracy, openness, and transparency in decision making that would eventually lead to a more sustainable and long-term development, especially attacking trade-related issues and the WTO. However, these are universal values shared by anti-globalists and international organizations alike, and it is essential to uphold these values for the interests of all. Therefore, anti-globalists have helped to some extent strengthen these values through their criticisms. For example, there have been bans on ozone layer destroying CFCs, reduced trade in forest timber, and increased support for cleaner energy technologies. Also, debt relief for poorest countries is considered and some companies have become more socially responsible.
