Transnational production and security : Southeast Asia's "growth triangles"

After discussing the term "growth triangle" as a form of transnational production, the author points out that the dynamics of transnational economic linkages in Southeast Asia cannot be properly understood without recognition of its political and security underpinnings. He examines both security-enhancing and security-diminishing implications of the emergence of growth triangles in Southeast Asia and assess their overall impact on domestic, inter-state and regional security relations.
