13th Annual Workshop of the Households in Conflict Network “Development Aid in Conflict-Affected Countries”
Do outside interventions in conflict-affected areas do any good? Do they fuel the conflict further? Can donor agencies and NGO’s plan their intervention in such a way as not to become an actor in the conflict themselves? What is the space in which the development and humanitarian aid community has to maneuver? What is the empirical evidence of the impact of interventions in conflict-affected settings? These are the themes under which the 13th Annual Workshop of HiCN will run. We invite papers that can shed light on the effect of food aid on the beneficiaries as well as the warring parties, on demobilization, reintegration and employment programs, on the role of media during conflict, on forced displacement, on new ways to collect data during conflict and on the impact of prevention and peace programs, to name but a few.
