1st Annual YHRDLJ Symposium "Corporate Social Responsibilty in the Extractive Industries"
Within the sphere of corporate social responsibility in the mining and extractive industries, the Symposium aims to bring together scholars, businesspeople, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss topics including, but not limited to: human rights abuses and endemic poverty in local communities where these profitable extractive projects take place, and in the potential for international bodies and institutions like the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the International Monetary Fund to regulate transnational extractive projects and the contracts that enable them. The symposium also hopes to explore alternatives to regulation.
