1st International Conference "The Role of State in Varieties of Capitalism (SVOC): Achievements and challenges for Central and Eastern Europe and the emerging markets"
The state as economic agent, regulator, developer has gained increasing attention during the last decade. The process was further accelerated during the financial and economic crisis of 2007-9. Reforms of the welfare state, direct state intervention in the form of nationalizations and other methods of crisis management, active structural policies have been some of the areas of increasing state activity. The aim of the conference is to gather information on the nature, scope and field of this activity: how state intervention may influence capitalist models. Papers are invited from scholars of economics, political science and related disciplines. Our Conference welcomes high quality contributions proposing advances in the field of theory, empirics or policy.
