21st ACUNS 2008 Annual Meeting "The UN and the Global Development Architecture"
The theme of the 2008 Annual Meeting, “The United Nations and the Global Development Architecture” has been chosen to encourage ACUNS members to consider how the UN, its associated bodies and agencies, other international organizations, regional groupings, national governments, nongovernmental organizations, and even individual members of civil society have identified, evaluated, and sought to respond to contemporary global development challenges. The Millennium Development Goals are an obvious general topic, but there may be many other issues – such as dealing with new institutional arrangements, instruments and methods; the use of emerging technologies; recent environmental policy debates; evolving social and economic implications; and the relationship between development and security, human rights, or terrorism. The ACUNS Secretariat will be pleased to receive proposals for papers and panels from members looking at these topics.
