regulation, supervision/ surveillance, and rules enforcement through
litigation and fines)
• Political economy of the SEC
• Interaction of the SEC with international financial markets
• Efficiency of SEC delegation of standard setting to organizations such
as FASB
• Self-regulation of exchanges and of the mutual fund industry
• Effect of SEC listing standards on the fraction of public versus private
capital and IPO activity
• Regulatory impact on mutual funds and hedge funds
• Option expensing rules and effects on growth companies
• Increased liability and composition of boards of directors
