CAPITAL MARKETS SEMINAR ON PRIVATIZATION
This half-day seminar aims to shed light on a number of issues connected with privatization in general and the Swedish situation in particular. First, what is the role of state-owned companies in today’s economy? What sectors are more suitable for state ownership and has this changed over time? Second, if companies should be privatized, what is the best road to accomplish it? Should they be sold in a general initial public offering, and, if so, what type of sales mechanism should be used? Should the shares be distributed directly to the public? Or should the companies be sold directly to other companies? Third, what is the effect on employees, customers, and the economy as a whole on the privatization of companies? In order to answer these questions, we aim to bring together leading international academic experts on privatization and Swedish practitioners and regulators for a fruitful discussion.
