Conference on Entrepreneurial Finance
Although most scholars recognize the importance of understanding how new companies are financed, they have made relatively little progress in investigating this process empirically, largely because of the lack of available data. However, in recent years, some scholars have begun to examine entrepreneurial finance questions using large, representative databases, and new datasets are now available that permit the examination of these questions in ways not possible previously. To encourage the investigation of these databases, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland are co-sponsoring a conference on entrepreneurial finance, to take place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland on March 12-13, 2009. A pre-conference will be held at the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, MO., on August 21-22, 2008. A subset of the papers presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking.
