Pre-Conference Workshop "Climate Policy & Stranded Assets: A Public Finance and Financial Economics Perspective"
The pre-conference workshop aims to invite research that explicitly looks at interlinkages between climate policy, financial markets and questions of public finance. We welcome empirical and theoretical contributions that discuss the following questions: - What are the regulatory risks of carbon pricing and complementary policies on financial markets? - What are macroeconomic effects of climate policy in light of regulatory uncertainty and non-credible commitments? - What are interlinkages between carbon pricing and fiscal systems (including optimal tax schemes with respect to social welfare maximization)? - What is the optimal instrument choice under political economy considerations, such as sunk investments, stranded assets, voting power, lobbying and compensation schemes?
