Third annual Conference on Economic Policy Issues in the European Union - Towards an Enlarging European Monetary Union: Challenges for New and Old Member States
The call for papers focuses this year on policy challenges in an enlarging European Monetary Union. Contributions should address in particular issues related to: What are the main challenges facing new member states in the prospect of joining the Monetary Union? What is the appropriate timing for the new member states to join the Monetary Union? How to cope with shocks and structural specificities in an enlarging Monetary Union? Will higher heterogeneity require specific policy responses? What lessons can be drawn from the current experience of the euro area? Is there growing business cycle convergence or divergence within the existing Monetary Union? Does the current policy framework favour divergence or convergence within the Union? How much convergence is needed in EMU?
