Workshop on "Regulations, Capital Markets and Financial Institutions: The Post Crisis Era" RCMFI 2011
The financial system has experienced significant changes over the last decade such as deregulation, technological and financial innovations, and globalization. The recent financial crisis has shown that despite the improvements in the operational efficiency and management of banks and financial markets, risk management remains sub-optimal and there are a lot of things yet to be understood about the inter-relationship between capital markets and the financial industry. The crisis also highlighted the need for fundamental reforms in the financial regulation and policy with the Basel III, the Solvency II, and the Walker’s review of corporate governance in the UK being a few of the regulatory initiatives.
