Connecting a Billion Content Resources to Education by 2018 : The Global Grid for Learning

The Global Grid for Learning is a multi-stakeholder initiative led by Cambridge University Press with Arizona State University, Dublin City University and Obeikan Research and Development. The vision for Global Grid for Learning is create a digital content supply network for education worldwide and to provide universal, affordable and equitable access to digital content, whether commercial or community developed. The goal is to connect a billion digital resources to education worldwide by 2018. We demonstrate a self-sustainable model, system, repository, and enabling workflow process for distributing learning assets and structured learning objects, whether commercial or community-based. We also demonstrate a live implementation in the Arab world of a “first experience” online learning software platform for those educational institutions and regions that may not have the resources to procure, operate or support such a project on a national or regional scale
