Globalisation - global integration - with or without regional economic integration? : Challenges confronting the OIC countries
The paper attempts to review the emerging trends in global and regional integration and to consider their implications for the member countries of the OIC in the light of the latter's disappointing efforts to enhance regional co-operation and integration. There are many reasons for this failure. But, in the face of the pressures of multilateralism and the unfolding world of regional blocs, the OIC countries, in order to avoid marginalisation, need to work out common strategies of co-operation and integration schemes. They should proceed with a modest and practical approach. (DÜI-Cls)
