Naturfaser aus ökologischem Landbau
Ziel der Diplomarbeit ist es, einerseits den Ökotextilmarkt hinsichtlich der eingesetzten Rohstoffe, der angebotenen Produkte und deren Zertifizierungen darzustellen. Andererseits wurden die bisherigen Entwicklungen des Ökotextilmarktes, die Entwicklungschancen von Naturfasern aus ökologischem Landbau und die Forderungen von Akteuren des Ökotextilmarktes analysiert. Anhand von mündlich durchgeführten Befragungen mittels eines strukturierten Fragebogens wurden 30 Naturtextilhersteller und -händler auf den Fachmessen: Internationale Naturtextilmesse (InNaTex) und BIOFACH im Jahr 2006 befragt. Am Häufigsten hatten die Befragten Produkte aus Baumwolle, Schafwolle, Flachs und Seide in ihrem Sortiment. Die verwendeten Naturfaserrohstoffe wurden aus 26 Ländern bezogen, wobei 37% der Rohstoffe aus den Ländern Asiens und des Nahen Ostens stammten. Rohstoffe aus kontrolliert biologischem Landbau wurden bei Baumwolle, Schafwolle, Hanf und Fasernessel am Häufigsten angetroffen. Nach den Richtlinien von Öko-Tex 100, des IVN und SKAL (heute Control Union) wurden Produkte am Häufigsten ausgezeichnet, wobei 53% der Befragten keine zertifizierten Produkte vorweisen konnten. Der Hälfte aller Befragten war der „Global Organic Textile Standard“ bekannt. Ebenso 50% der Befragten waren der Meinung, dass sich der Ökotextilmarkt in den Jahren 1996 - 2006 positiv entwickelt hat. Diesen stehen ca. 23% gegenüber, die von einer negativen Entwicklung sprechen. Dennoch wurde ein abnehmendes Interesse der Konsumenten an Naturmode nach dem Höhepunkt der Naturmodewelle Mitte der 1990er Jahre mehrheitlich von den Befragten wahrgenommen. Als Gründe dafür nennen die Befragten vor allem den Wechsel des Modetrends und die hohen Preise für Ökotextilien. Hinsichtlich der zukünftigen Entwicklung wird Bio-Baumwolle das höchste Entwicklungspotential eingeräumt. Um den Ökotextilmarkt nachhaltig zu forcieren, fordern die Akteure des Naturtextilmarktes seitens der Politik im Besonderen Förderungen und Subventionen sowie vermehrt Information und Bewusstseinsbildung der Konsumenten zu nachhaltig produzierten Textilien.
