The aim of the study is to provide the Commission with a snapshot of European aquaculture in thelate 1990s, the evolution of the sector over the last 10 years and prospects for the sector within the next 10 years.The two issues of key policy interest to the Commission are the contribution of aquaculture to the provision of fisheries products in the Union and the generation of employment by the sector.
