The measurement of job performance and its impact on effectiveness

This study extends previous research by investigating the issue of which measure of job performance plays a substantial role in influencing any effectiveness outcome. Little research has examined the relationship between job performance and effectiveness. Four items for task performance, five items for contextual performance and three items for effectiveness (productivity and quality and innovation) were used for assessing employee performance. A total of 600 employees in the company participated in this study. The result shows that two items 'attention to important details and creativity to solve a work problem', were the most effectual items to contribute to productivity, quality, and innovation, respectively. Education level and job experience had more effect on effectiveness. Job performance measures used in the company have different effects on each of the effectiveness indicators. The result of this study shows that training programmes in purpose of enhancing employee effectiveness in the hard workers jobs at the industry should focus on attention to important details and creativity to solve a work problem.
