Wie einflussreich ist PR wirklich?
Die vorliegende Magisterarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Frage der Beziehung zwischen PR und Mediensystem. Nach einer einführenden Definition und Abgrenzung der beiden zentralen Größen „Öffentlichkeitsarbeit“ und „Journalismus“ wird über Baerns’ Determinationsthese hingeführt zum theoretischen Kernstück: Dem Intereffikationsmodell von Günter Bentele et.al. Dieses wird operationalisiert und als Basis für den zweiten, empirischen Teil der Arbeit verwendet. Mittels Input-Output-Analyse und Expertenkurzinterview wird die Pressearbeit der Wien Holding aus dem Jahr 2008 analysiert um anschließend die zuvor postulierten Forschungsfragen und Hypothesen zu beantworten. Forschungsleitende Frage ist, inwieweit die Umlegung des Intereffikationsmodells auf die Pressearbeit der Wien Holding neue Erkenntnisse liefert. Besonderheit des empirischen Teils ist die Miteinbeziehung der Inserat-Schaltungen der Wien Holding im Jahr 2008 – so können etwaige Zusammenhänge zwischen PR-Journalismus-Beziehung und bezahlten Anzeigen interpretiert werden. Im Forschungsausblick wird eine mögliche Folgeuntersuchung basierend auf Experteninterviews angedacht.
