Disadvantages of Using of Blockchain in Electronic Election in Russia

The report is devoted to the problem of revealing of disadvantages of using of blockchain in the electronic election in Russia. As any technology has its own weaknesses the same way blockchain has disadvantages in the sphere of elections. We focus on one of the main problems of blockchain - security. According to Aleksei Borshevnikov, the use of blockchain technology for election causes many questions that remain unanswered. For example, will be used already available innovation for implementation of blockchain technology or is it necessary to create a new one? When will be created the protocol of voting based on blockchain with proven safety? We considered so-called "51% attack" as one of the weaknesses of blockchain technology. The attacker who has superior computing power in comparison with the rest of network can modify blocks or create fake blocks. Both hackers, user groups or even the Central Election Commission can be considered as attacker. Another problem is development of computing power to maintain such an infrastructure for realization of blockchain technologies in elections where there are more than 75 millions of participants. Thus we made the conclusion that there are large technical problems with the implementation of blockchain system in Russian elections. However blockchain system anyways will be applied in Russian elections because it exclude possibility of falsification of the results of elections
