Features of File-Server Architecture of the Information System

The paper deals with the analysis of features of file-server architecture of the information system. The file-server architecture implies availability of dedicated network resource for storage data. With this architecture, all functional components of the system are located on the user-computer, which is called the "client". Such organization of the system has the following advantages: multi-user mode with data stored on the server; centralized rights of management access to common data; low cost of development. Disadvantages of the file-server architecture are the following: sequential access to common data and lack of a guarantee of their integrity; low productivity.
